Saturday Rations is inspired by tradition.

On Saturdays, a day of rest and gathering, slaves were given their weekly rations. These humble ingredients - pig fat, meat scraps, cornmeal, and the fruits of their own gardens - were magically transformed into the rich flavors and warm aromas we now know as soul food. In their hands, simple fare became a celebration of taste. A testament to their extraordinary culinary creativity and spirit.

Here at Saturday Rations, we infuse this joyful resilience into every dish

Our philosophy?

Food is not just nourishment; it's a delight, a healer, a way to connect with our roots. We believe in the power of wholesome ingredients to create meals that are not only healthy but also full of flavor and happiness. Join us in celebrating a legacy of love, flavor, and community, one delicious bite at a time.

About The Chef

Welcome to my culinary journey, which combines my Memphis roots with a love of timeless flavors. I get my ideas from the cherished recipes of my grandparents, who are from the heart of Memphis, Tennessee.

My interest in food was sparked in their kitchen, where it has grown into a passion that inspires me to make recipes that reflect love, tradition, and a healing touch.

I am a retired Military culinary specialist of 8 years, and I am also serve safe certified. Having attended multiple advanced culinary courses over the last 5 years since retiring.

My use of food as a means of communication is proof of the nourishing effects of family dinners. I carefully prepare each meal, infusing it with flavors that nourish the body as well as the soul because I am guided by the notion that food is the primary form of healing.

I realized that being a cook wasn’t only about providing people with food, but rather about providing them with the feeling that they were cared for. "
